Ailyn Pérez makes her highly anticipated role debut as Elisabetta di Valois in Verdi’s gripping drama, Don Carlo, at Teatro di San Carlo on November 29 and December 1, 3, & 6. Director Claus Guth brings a new production to San Carlo with set design by Etienne Pluss, costumes by Petra Reinhardt, and lighting by Olaf Freese.
Juraj Valčuha conducts an indomitable cast, including Matthew Polenzani as the title role, Elīna Garanča as La principessa Eboli, Michele Pertusi as Filippo II, Ludovic Tézier as Rodrigo, and Alexander Tsymbalyuk as Il grande inquisitore, among others.
The opening night performance on November 29 will be broadcast via Rai 5 at 21:15 CET and Medici.tv at 19:00 CET.
Out of sorrow and respect for the victims of the landslide in Ischia, the opening performance on November 26 was postponed to November 29.
