Ailyn Pérez sings the role of Countess Almaviva in Mozart’s masterful classic Le nozze di Figaro this season, in a return engagement at Houston Grand Opera. This is a signature role for Ms. Pérez, whose previous portrayals have been heralded by audiences and critics alike.

“Soprano Ailyn Pérez was glowing as the Countess, her “Dove Sono,” sung with dignity as well as sorrow. Her voice was a golden filament that illuminated the nobility of spirit that would later lead the Countess to forgive her husband, the wayward Count.” (The Pioneer Press)

“A showstopping “Dove sono,” all floating pianissimos and diminuendos and delicate pathos, that roused the sold-out crowd to a long, well-deserved ovation.” (Chicago Tribune)

Ailyn is joined by an acclaimed roster of colleagues in Houston, including Adam Plachetka as Figaro, Heidi Stober as Susanna, Joshua Hopkins as Count Almaviva. Harry Bicket leads the Houston Grand Opera Orchestra for this Ian Rutherford directed production. Performances take place January 22, 24 & 30 and February 3, 5 & 7 at the Wortham Theater Center.
