Ailyn Pérez will play one of her signature roles, Violetta Valéry, in the Bavarian State Opera’s upcoming production of Verdi’s La traviata. She will begin the three-performance run on New Year’s Eve alongside legendary American baritone Thomas Hampson as Germont and American tenor Charles Castronovo as his son, Alfredo. Pérez’s interpretation of the role has been described as “ideal” and “glorious” (The Observer, London). She has portrayed the Verdi’s great tragic heroine twice so far this season at the Hamburg State Opera and at Opera de Oviedo in Spain; two further performances in London (May 6-20) and San Francisco (July 5-13) are to follow after her appearance in Munich. More about the production is available on the Bavarian State Opera’s website.
