Ailyn Pérez joins the Romanian Youth Orchestra on September 16 for Beethoven’s glorious Symphony No. 9, making her debut at the George Enescu International Festival. Pérez previously sang this masterwork with the Detroit Symphony, where her performance “bordered on angelic” (Bachtrack).
The festival has assembled an exceptional quartet of soloists. Pérez’s husband, Soloman Howard, sings the bass solo, alongside mezzo-soprano Judit Kutasi, tenor Maximilian Schmitt, and the George Enescu Philharmonic Choir. Led by conductor Christian Reif, the orchestra will also perform Grieg’s Piano Concerto in A minor, featuring pianist Simon Trpčeski.
