On February 21 and 23, Ailyn Pérez returns to the role of Micaëla in a Bizet’s beloved Carmen, performed in concert with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. Pérez has performed the role on some of the most prestigious stages in the world, including The Metropolitan Opera and Royal Ballet and Opera.

Of her recent appearance at The Metropolitan Opera, Bachtrack praised her performance, saying,  “…this show was stolen by Ailyn Pérez’s Micaëla, who brought a creamy, luxurious sound to the part. It’s a gift of a role for a singer of Pérez’s calibre, and it provided her ample opportunity to show off her ravishing pianissimi as well as a newfound steeliness to her voice, which cut through the orchestra at the climax of her aria.”

Jader Bignamini conducts the DSO, leading a thrilling all star cast. Pérez will perform alongside J’Nai Bridges in the title role, Russell Thomas as the jealous Don José, and Paulo Szot as the dashing Escamillo.
