On March 15, 19, 22, 25, 28, and 31, and April 3, 6, 9, and 12 Ailyn Pérez returns to the Lyric Opera of Chicago in a signature role, Mimì in Puccini’s La bohème. Pérez’s lauded interpretation of the fragile seamstress has been seen at the world’s preeminent houses, including The Metropolitan Opera, Opéra national de Paris, Staatsoper Berlin, the Royal Ballet and Opera (formerly the Royal Opera House), Bayerische Staatsoper, and Teatro alla Scala, among others. Of her performances at the Royal Ballet and Opera, Broadway World said, “Pérez’s Mimì is beautifully nuanced and stimulating; whenever she sings her arias she delivers a soothing tone that immediately draws the audience in. Especially her rendition of ‘Sì, mi chiamano Mimì’ is absolutely stunning.”
She joins an exciting young cast of bohemians, directed by Melanie Bacaling, including Pene Pati at Rodolfo, Gabriella Reyes as Musetta, and Will Liverman as Marcello. Jordan de Souza leads from the pit.
Pérez can also be heard on recording as Mimì, recorded live at The Metropolitan Opera under the baton of Maestro Carlo Rizzi.
