Marking her last engagement of 2021, Ailyn Pérez will star as Puccini’s quintessential diva, Tosca, at Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari. At the beginning of the season, Ms. Peréz made her role debut as Tosca at San Francisco Opera, wowing audiences with her “meltingly beautiful account of her Act 2 showpiece aria of grief “Vissi d’arte,” (San Francisco Examiner), and garnering praise from The San Francisco Chronicle hailing she “was the very embodiment of it in the title role.”
Performances will take place on December 16, 19, 21, and 23. Giampaolo Bisanti conducts a top notch cast including Rame Lahaj as Cavaradossi, Franco Vassallo as Scarpia, Alessandro Spina as Angelotti, Giovanni Augelli as Sciarrone, and Christian Collia as Spoletta, among others.
