Ailyn Pérez is the guest soprano as the Minnesota Orchestra presents Verdi’s Requiem. Verdi composed this requiem in loving tribute to the famous Italian novelist and poet, Alessandro Manzoni. This funeral mass was written to include four soloists and has been referred to as “packing a wallop” with off-stage trumpets and bass drum. Highly dramatic, this performance will likely exceed expectations under the sheer wizardry of conductor Edward Gardner. Ms. Pérez made her triumphant debut in the role in 2013 in Montreal, and this performances marks her third Verdi role of the season. She joins mezzo Elizabeth DeShong, tenor Rene Barbera, and bass-baritone Eric Owens. Performances are May 17, 18, and 19.
