By the end of the 2013-14 season, American soprano Ailyn Pérez will have portrayed Verdi’s most well-known tragic heroine, Violetta, a number of times in major opera houses in both Europe and the US. In May, she brings her “ideal” interpretation of Violetta (The Observer) to London’s Royal Opera House (May 6-20) for her final performances with the storied British company this season. Directed by Richard Eyre, the production features British baritone Simon Keenlyside as Germont. This production will be Pérez’s third at Royal Opera House this season, following her role debut as Liu in Turandot and her return to the title role of Massanet’s Manon. More information on the production can be found on the Royal Opera House’s website, where tickets are also available for sale.
