Ailyn Pérez, an up-and-coming soprano who has been making the rounds of major opera houses in Vienna, London, Berlin and Milan, made her Metropolitan Opera debut this month as Micaëla in a revival of Bizet’s “Carmen.” Ms. Pérez, who won the 2012 Richard Tucker Award, was praised for her performance by Zachary Woolfe, who wrote in The New York Times that she was a “confident, forthright presence in a role that can fade into merely demure.” Here she is singing a decidedly nondemure rendition of Micaëla’s aria.
