Ailyn Pérez returns to the Metropolitan Opera for her signature role of Mimì in Franco Zeffirelli’s immortal production of Puccini’s La Bohème. Last season, the New York Classical Review hailed her “marvelous” performance as Mimì, remarking that it was “full of the kind of subtle and detailed variations in articulation and dynamics that make for a great musical performance.”
This time around, Ms. Pérez will share the stage with Matthew Polenzani as Rodolfo, Olga Kulchynska as Musetta, David Bizic as Marcello, Andrey Zhilikhovsky as Schaunard, Jongmin Park as Colline, and Arthur Woodley as Benoit and Alcindoro. Performances will include October 25 & 30, and November 2, 5, 9, 17 & 21. Marco Armiliato leads the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra and Chorus. Later this season, Ailyn reprises the role with another spectacular cast led by Emmanuel Villaume (April 29, May 2, 7). On January 25, 2020, at 1 pm (EST), a performance from this fall will be broadcasted on the Met’s Saturday Matinee Series, heard over the Toll Brothers-Metropolitan Opera International Radio Network. Ms. Pérez and Matthew Polenzani will record an interview which will air during the SiriusXM and Met Opera radio broadcast on their opening night on October 25.
