Following her enthusiastically received performances in 2015 as Mimì in Puccini’s eternal classic La bohème, Ailyn Pérez makes her highly anticipated return to Milan’s Teatro alla Scala next season in two productions. She sings Mimì on February 28 and March 3 & 5, 2017, with a cast including Fabio Sartori as Rodolfo, Simone Piazzola as Marcello, and Federica Lombardi as Musetta, with Evelino Pidò leading from the pit for the Franco Zeffirelli production.

She returns to La Scala from July 3, 5, 10 & 14, 2017 as Violetta in Verdi’s La traviata, with Francesco Meli as Alfredo Germont and Leo Nucci as Giorgio Germont. Nello Santi leads the Teatro alla Scala Orchestra for these performances, featuring staging by Liliana Cavani and sets designed by Dante Ferretti.

Enjoy past critical acclaim for Ailyn’s performances in these iconic roles:

“Her evenly produced, well-focused voice projects effortlessly. Pérez spun long lines of soft melody as she introduces herself to the poet Rodolfo in Sì, mi chiamano Mimì and when she says she will leave him in Donde lieta uscì, the soprano rose to a passage of soaring lyricism as she tells her lover to keep her pink bonnet as a memory of their love. Throughout the evening, she never disappointed, wringing all the emotion from the moments of grand passion, from her desire for winter to last forever so they would never leave each other to her feverish dying expressions of love for Rodolfo.”

David Fleshler – South Florida Classical Review

La Traviata at the Deutsche Oper Berlin was an evening of exemplary vocal prowess and unmitigated passion . . . a gobsmackingly sophisticated night of music . . . Ailyn Perez sang with a clear, sweet voice . . . Perez’s golden tone was spot on throughout the night. Her acting, too, was elegant: Violetta was always dignified, a lady in character if not in name, no matter what awful things the men around her were perpetrating.”
