The New York Times praised the “expressive” performance by Ailyn Pérez of the show-stopping Act I aria from La Traviata as the 2012 Richard Tucker Award winning-soprano joined several other recipients of awards from the Richard Tucker Music Foundation on Wednesday, August 28 for a free concert in Central Park. The performance was given in honor of Richard Tucker on the day named in his honor by New York City Mayor Bloomberg on what would have been the legendary tenor’s 100th birthday. Perez will perform in New York City again this season on November 17 when the Foundation presents its annual gala at Avery Fisher Hall.
