Ailyn Pérez doet haar best om geïnspireerd en positief te blijven, maar het valt niet mee in deze tijd. Ze mist haar kunst en ze mist het contact met collega’s. Op 12 maart stond ze voor het laatst op de bühne, als Desdemona in Verdi’s Otello bij de Staatsoper Hamburg. Ze zou daarop naar New York reizen voor vijf voorstellingen van Simon Boccanegra bij de Metropolitan Opera, maar die productie werd geannuleerd.}

On the cover of her new album, Mi Corazón soprano Ailyn Pérez looks straight at you. It’s a very conscious choice. This time she doesn’t put herself in the shoes of other women, she is completely herself. “You come into my heart,” she says from her home near Chicago. “In this music, I find my voice.”

Ailyn Pérez does her best to stay inspired and positive, but it’s not easy these days. She misses her art and she misses contact with colleagues. On March 12th she was last on stage, as Desdemona in Verdi’s Otello at the Hamburg State Opera. She would then travel to New York for five performances of Simon Boccanegra at the Metropolitan Opera, but that production was cancelled
