On November 23, Ailyn Pérez brings her “radiant” (New York Times), interpretation of Verdi’s Requiem to audiences in Boston. It’s a signature work for the soprano, who has sung the Requiem for The Metropolitan Opera, Orchestre Métropolitain, and The Philadelphia Orchestra.
Of her performance as part of The Met’s 9/11 memorial, the New York Times raved, “She relished the text, treating it as urgent revelation; her voice vibrated with passion while being utterly controlled. Simultaneously larger than life and deeply human, she captured what opera can be, bringing us all back to the art form we adore.”
Pérez joins an elite group of soloists, singing under the baton of Benjamin Zander. She will be joined onstage by mezzo-soprano Daniela Mack, tenor John Osborn, bass Maharram Huseynov, and the Chorus pro musica.
Pérez is also scheduled to sing Verdi’s Requiem this spring, at the Sala Santa Cecilia in Rome.
