This season, Ailyn Pérez returns to the Teatro alla Scala as Mimì in Puccini’s La bohème, on August 26 & 29 and September 2. Mimì has become a signature role for Ms. Pérez, whose previous performances have received great critical acclaim: “Perez . . . has breath to spare, hanging on to every line to imbue the music with nuance and innate fragility.” (Variety) She is joined by a renowned cast of colleagues, including Ramón Vargas as Rodolfo, Angel Blue as Musetta, and Gabriele Viviani as Marcello. Gustavo Dudamel leads the Orquesta Sinfónica and Coro Nacional Juvenil Simón Bolívar and Treble Voices Chorus of the Teatro alla Scala Academy in this Franco Zeffirelli-designed production.
Ailyn made her La Scala debut in 2010 as Amelia in Verdi’s Simon Boccanegra, sharing the stage with Plácido Domingo.
