Tonight, Ailyn steps in for her first Violetta at Zürich Opera in David Herman’s new production of Verdi’s La Traviata.

When asked about exploring new ideas for one of her most iconic roles, she comments:

“I’m thrilled to be singing under the musical direction of Maestro Marco Armiliato who and it’s been a fascinating process reworking one of my favorite roles, incorporating the ideas of mental illness and addiction that eventually lead to Violetta’s demise. Every new production offers a new path to interpretation.”

For tonight and Sunday’s matinee, Ailyn performs alongside Pavol Breslik (Alfredo), and beginning May 6 she reunites with her recent Munich Opera colleague, Matthew Polenzani (Alfredo) and Quinn Kelsey (Germont), all sharing Chicago roots.
