Following her turn as Puccini’s ill-fated lover Mimi in the Los Angeles Opera’s run of La Bohème in May and a June that sees her in Zurich and Moscow, Ailyn Pérez returns to her native United States for three performances of another tragic heroine, Violetta in Verdi’s La traviata. This is Pérez’s third time this season playing Violetta, a role she is quickly establishing as one of her signature characters, after eight performances at Royal Opera House Covent Garden and the Hamburg State Opera in the winter.
